Research Topics
Natural resources such as water and soil, wildlife, ecosystems, and human beings are exposed to complex chemical mixtures rather than individual chemicals. Thus, CheMix has a specific focus on the analysis and assessment of complex mixtures of chemicals in the environment and in organisms, on the identification of mixture components driving risks for ecosystems and human health risk and on the unravelling of major sources of chemical pollution. To this end, CheMix develops and applies chemical screening approaches (target-, suspect- and non-target screening) using most advanced analytical tools such as LC-HRMS/MS, GC(×GC)-HRMS/MS and LC-TIMS-TOFMS.
Major research fields are:
Analysis, assessment and mapping of chemical mixture risks/footprints in European river basins
Analysis of internal exposure of organisms such as invertebrates and fish with chemical mixtures
Human exposure monitoring and assessment analysing human blood and urine as well as wastewater
